A 1:48 scale model airplane, is 1/48th the size of the original warbird. A P-51 Mustang model, for example, will have a wingspan of about 9 inches when scaled at 1:48. A larger aircraft, like the B-17 Flying Fortress, has a wingspan of just over two feet in this scale.
