The Panzerjäger Tiger (P) Elefant (German "elephant"; model number Sd.Kfz. 184) was a Panzerjäger (tank hunter). They were originally built under the name Ferdinand, after their designer, Ferdinand Porsche. The Elefant had a six man crew who operated the 88mm gun mounted on this 70 ton tank. Engines were located in the middle of the hull, which allowed space for ammunition in the rear. The Elefant's armor plate was as thick as 8 in. in some areas allowing for incredible protection for the crew particularly when meeting the enemy head-on.
The 1:32 scale Ferdinand by Forces of Valor's is the improved version known as the "Elefant." This model is constructed almost entirely of plastic, which allows for Zimmerit hull detail. The gun's casement is constructed in diecast metal and features opening hatches and a pivoting metal gun that correctly swings slightly left and right, just like the real McCoy. The Elefant's highly detailed wheels and sprockets spin freely inside the weathered rolling rubber tracks. The underside shows an accurately represented suspension system with access panels once used for maintaining this behemoth.
